What is the advantage of the GentleMaxPRO, 755 nm Alexandrite GentleLAZ laser?
The 755 nm Alexandrite laser is popular for patients who have lighter skin and dark hair and are seeking optimal permanent reduction, as it is very successful on those individuals. The 755 nm Alexandrite is one of the best lasers for permanent reduction in mild to moderately coarse, dark hair that is mid-to-deep dermal in location.
Five treatments often results in greater than 75-80% permanent reduction. The GentleLAZ can also be used to target and destroy brown spots and age spots by altering the parameters away from laser hair removal.
What is the advantage of the laser hair removal treatments?
The GentleYAG is a Neodymium YAG laser (Nd:YAG) with a wavelength of 1064 nm. This longer-wavelength laser can be used on patients with tanned skin or darker skin that have dark hair. Tanned skin and darker skin patients of Asian, Hispanic, Latino, Mediterranean or African-American descent have a lot of melanin in the superficial parts of their skin. Melanin, of course, is the pigment that the laser is attacking in the hair shaft, when killing hair.
Too much melanin in the skin will attract the laser energy, creating a lot of heat in the skin and can result in skin complications, such as a burn or pigmentation lightening or darkening.
The 1064 nm Nd:YAG is the perfect wavelength for those who have very dark skin or tanned skin, as it is less attracted to melanin or pigment in the skin and more focused on pigment in the hair shaft and treating the hair shaft and bulb. The GentleYAG, 1064 nm laser is also attracted to hemoglobin and, thus, with some special settings and parameters, be used very successfully to treat large blue legs veins, spider veins of the leg, or smaller facial spider veins
