HOW EFFECTIVE IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL ?

Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?

We like to refer to laser hair removal as “permanent hair reduction.” With each treatment, your hair follicles are targeted with pulses of light emitted from the laser.

At various times some of your hair follicles are dormant and some are active. The active follicles get damaged and do not grow back the same way. Some of your dormant hair follicles may become active between treatments and then get treated in your following session. After six to eight sessions, most of your hair follicles should be treated.

Some clients see almost complete hair elimination and some clients see a reduction of hair so that what remains is just a fraction of the prior levels of hair growth which get treated in annual or semi-annual touch ups at a greatly reduced rate.

What to expect from Laser Hair RemovalHow Effective is Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal uses mild radiation via high-heat lasers. The purpose is to damage hair follicles enough to significantly slow down hair growth. Although the effects last longer than home hair removal methods, such as shaving, laser therapy doesn’t create permanent results. You’ll have to receive multiple treatments for long-term hair removal.

Laser hair removal may be done just about anywhere on the face and body, except your eye area. This makes the procedure versatile in its uses.

There is also little-to-no recovery time involved. You can resume your normal activities after each procedure.

Although new hairs may still grow, you’ll notice that they grow in finer and lighter in color than before. This means that when there is regrowth it won’t look as heavy as before.

This procedure tends to work best if you have both fair skin and dark hair.

Not all Laser Hair Removal technologies are equal

You may hear the term “Laser Hair Removal” and be led to believe there is one standard solution available. In fact, this is not true and the technologies available can be categorized into 3 types:

IPL: Intense Pulsed Light

Diode: 800 nm or 810 nm wavelength

Alexandrite & Nd:YAG: ALEX is a 755 nm wavelength and NdYAG is a 1064 nm wavelength

ALL Skin Types:

The GentleLase Pro, GentleYAG Pro, and GentleMax Pro lasers provide the flexibility of having a 755nm Alexandrite and/or 1064nm Nd:YAG where needed. The 755nm Alex is the gold-standard for Hair Removal on skin types 1,2 and 3. Whereas the Nd:YAG is ideal for skin types 4,5 and 6.
