Enjoy the sun 365 days a year with your everyday protection! We may not notice it right now, but further down the road you will thank me for encouraging sun protection. Applying a facial moisturizer with a sunscreen in it, under your primer and makeup is the easiest and best way to save your skin. Be healthy and look great for years to come! Wearing your sunscreen helps prevent uncomfortable sun burns and unwanted tan lines, and enhances the health of your skin! Look for a sunscreen with at least a minimum of SPF 30. Most sunscreens have a shelf life of 2-3 years, so if you don’t use it all this year, you’re good for the next summer!

We all love that warm summer glow, but when it comes to prematurely aging your skin, you will not regret wearing sunscreen. When you look at your skin after daily sunscreen wear in 20 years compared to your friends that haven’t, you will see a big difference! Embrace your paleness if that’s your skin type!! Your skin is the largest organ on your body, why not take the best care of it that you possibly can!

Here’s are a few amazing reasons to wear sunscreen:

  • It slows down the look and development of wrinkles and premature aging!! (although that tan may look nice now, your skin won’t thank you for it later).
  • The ozone layer and pollutants in the air make it harder for your body to help shield it from harmful rays!
  • Skin cancer!! More people than ever are experiencing this horrible effect from the sun and not protecting your skin.
  • It helps prevent brown sunspots and skin discoloration.
  • It helps prevent/reduce blotchiness, and the appearance of facial veins and broken blood vessels.

Most people can get their vitamin D requirements with normal daily outdoor activities anywhere from 5-30 minutes, twice a week. Also, eating a healthy vitamin D rich diet can also help. Fish, eggs, dairy, and vitamin D supplements work very well in making sure you’re getting enough internally to help. Staying in the sun for prolonged periods of time are not increasing your vitamin D intake. In turn, it also exposes the skin to harmful effects or ultraviolet radiation, which causes skin damage like sunspots, and skin cancers.

You can use a cream or spray on sunscreen, both are great. You want to apply it at least 20-30 minutes before you go outside, and if you do a lot of sweating or water sports, you want to re-apply every 2-3 hours to be the safest. Spray on sunscreens are amazing for active people who need to re-apply after every couple of hours. It’s also great for those of us who don’t like lotion all over our hands, and its very convenient!
