Unwanted ink

We assess tattoo colour, density, age and location alongside your skin tone and healing history. Some ink responds well; some may remain visible.

Cover-up fading

You may not need complete removal. We can discuss fading existing ink to prepare for your tattoo artist’s next design.

Cosmetic pigment

Microblading and cosmetic tattoos need careful assessment. Pigment can change colour or darken, so a test spot may be recommended.

Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare

What to do after PicoWay laser tattoo removal.

Healing is part of the treatment plan. Temporary redness, warmth, swelling, frosting, tenderness, pinpoint bleeding, scabbing, or blistering can occur. Your provider will give aftercare instructions based on the tattoo, settings, skin type, and treatment response.

What to expect

  • Temporary frosting immediately after treatment.
  • Redness, warmth, tenderness, swelling, or mild bruising.
  • Possible pinpoint bleeding, scabbing, or blistering.
  • Gradual fading over the weeks between sessions.

What to do

  • Keep the area clean and follow the dressing or ointment instructions provided.
  • Use a cool compress if recommended for swelling or discomfort.
  • Protect healing skin from sun exposure.
  • Allow blisters or scabs to heal without picking.

What to avoid

  • Avoid picking, scratching, exfoliating, or intentionally opening blisters.
  • Avoid heat, friction, and activities your provider asks you to pause during early healing.
  • Avoid retinoids, acids, bleaching creams, and other irritating products on the treated area until cleared.
  • Do not expose healing skin to tanning or unnecessary direct sun.

When to contact Sparkle

Contact Sparkle if pain, redness, heat, swelling, blistering, drainage, or other symptoms are worsening rather than improving, or if you are concerned about how the area is healing. Seek urgent medical assessment for severe symptoms.

Aftercare instructions vary by tattoo, treatment settings, skin type, healing history, and provider assessment. Follow the specific instructions given at your appointment.

How does PicoWay laser tattoo removal work?

PicoWay uses ultra-short picosecond pulses to break tattoo pigment into tiny particles. The body then gradually clears those particles through normal immune processes over the weeks after each session.

How many sessions will I need?

Most tattoos require a series of treatments. Your estimate depends on tattoo size, ink colour and composition, ink density, depth, age, location, skin tone, immune response, prior treatment, and whether the goal is removal or cover-up fading.

Can PicoWay remove coloured tattoos?

PicoWay can target a wide range of pigments, including some stubborn colours such as blues and greens. Colour response varies, and some cosmetic or highly saturated pigments may take longer or respond unpredictably.

Can you remove cosmetic tattoos like microblading or brow tattoos?

Yes, cosmetic tattoo removal may be possible on a case-by-case basis. Cosmetic pigments can sometimes shift colour or temporarily darken before fading, so consultation and test-spot planning may be recommended.

Is laser tattoo removal painful?

Most clients describe tattoo removal as a quick snapping, heat, or rubber-band-like sensation. Sessions are usually short, and comfort options such as cooling, breaks, and numbing guidance can be discussed.

How long does each appointment take?

The laser portion may take only a few minutes for small tattoos, while larger or more complex tattoos may take 10 to 30 minutes or more. The full visit includes assessment, photos, prep, treatment, cooling, and aftercare review.

What is frosting during tattoo removal?

Frosting is a temporary whitening that can appear when the laser interacts with pigment in the skin. It typically fades within minutes and is a common immediate response during laser tattoo removal.

What should I avoid before tattoo removal?

Avoid direct sun, tanning beds, and self-tanner on the treatment area before your appointment. Avoid harsh actives on the area, arrive with clean skin, and disclose medications, supplements, health conditions, and recent sun exposure.

What should I do after tattoo removal?

Keep the area clean, avoid picking, avoid heat and intense exercise for the timeframe recommended by your provider, protect the area from sun, and follow the aftercare instructions provided at your appointment.

Can PicoWay tattoo removal be used on darker skin tones?

PicoWay can be planned for a wide range of skin tones, but settings and candidacy must be chosen carefully. Consultation is required to assess pigment risk, tattoo colour, skin tone, and healing history.

How much does tattoo removal cost?

Tattoo removal starts at $175 per session for small tattoos. A full treatment series may range from approximately $800 to $2,500 or more depending on tattoo complexity, size, colours, and number of sessions required. Packages and memberships are available. Your provider confirms the complete quote at consultation.

Can I get tattoo removal while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Sparkle does not perform laser tattoo removal for clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your provider can help discuss appropriate timing during consultation.

Can tattoo removal fully remove every tattoo?

Some tattoos can fade dramatically or clear well, while others may leave residual pigment, shadowing, or texture changes. Complete removal cannot be guaranteed, and realistic expectations are discussed before treatment.

Let’s talk about your next chapter.

Bring your questions. We’ll assess your tattoo, explain your options and help you decide whether removal or cover-up fading feels right for you.
