How many tattoo removal sessions will I need?

Every tattoo is different. Our six-question calculator gives you an approximate starting point to discuss at your consultation.

Jump to the calculator below. No email needed.

This calculator provides an approximate estimate only, not a final treatment plan or a guarantee of results. The number of sessions varies, and your provider will assess your tattoo during consultation.

Understanding your result

A useful estimate leaves room for real life.

A number can help you start planning. It cannot predict exactly how your tattoo and skin will respond.

01 · Your tattoo

The details matter.

Colour, location, ink density, layering and changes in skin texture all contribute to the calculator’s score. Your practitioner checks these details in person.

02 · Your goal

Fading or removal?

Fading a tattoo for a cover-up and trying to remove as much ink as possible are different goals. Discuss the result you want before agreeing to a plan.

03 · Your response

The plan can change.

Healing and fading are assessed over time. Your estimate may change during treatment, and complete removal cannot be guaranteed.

Questions, answered

Before you start

A few things worth knowing about the calculator and your next step.

How does the calculator work?

It adds six scores using the Kirby–Desai framework, then applies Sparkle’s internal 0.752 factor and rounds the result. That adjustment is an internal planning estimate; it should not be read as a guaranteed result or a clinically validated prediction for your tattoo.

Can it tell me exactly how many sessions I’ll need?

No. Tattoo response varies. An in-person assessment gives your practitioner more information, and your plan may change as treatment progresses. Complete removal cannot be guaranteed.

What if I’m unsure about my answers?

Treat the result cautiously. The calculator cannot confirm your skin type, identify tattoo pigments or assess scarring. Those details should be reviewed by your practitioner.

What if my goal is a cover-up?

Tell the team. This calculator does not separately assess the amount of fading your tattoo artist needs for a new design. Your removal plan should take that goal into account.

How far apart will my sessions be?

The calculator displays a general planning interval. Your actual timing should be set by your practitioner based on healing, treatment response and the condition of your skin.

Do I have to give my email to see an estimate?

No. You can use the calculator and download its PDF without providing an email address.
