What is a Lip Flip?

Let’s clear this up right away: a Lip Flip is not lip filler.

It’s a subtle treatment using a small amount of Botox injected into the muscles around your upper lip. The result? Your lip gently “flips” outward, creating the appearance of a fuller, more defined upper lip—without adding any volume.

How the Lip Flip Works

Here’s what’s actually happening when we perform a Lip Flip at Sparkle:

The Science

We inject a small amount of Botox into the orbicularis oris muscle—the muscle that surrounds your mouth. When this muscle relaxes slightly, your upper lip gently rolls outward, revealing more of the pink part of your lip (the vermillion).

The Result

You get a subtle lift and more visible lip shape—especially when you smile. It’s not about making your lips bigger. It’s about working with what you already have.

The Timeline

Results appear within 3-5 days and last approximately 2-3 months. Because the Lip Flip uses a small amount of Botox, it tends to wear off slightly faster than other Botox treatments—but that also means you can adjust or change your mind more quickly.

Lip Flip Q&A

Most clients describe it as a quick pinch. We use ultra-fine needles and the entire process takes less than 5 minutes. If you’ve had Botox before, you already know what to expect. If you haven’t, you’ll likely be surprised by how comfortable it is.

Not with a Lip Flip. This is one of the most subtle lip treatments available. The goal is enhancement, not transformation. You’ll still look like you—just with a slightly more defined upper lip.

Typically 2-3 months. Because we use a small amount of Botox for the Lip Flip, it tends to metabolize slightly faster than Botox in other areas. The good news? If you love it, you can maintain it. If you don’t, it wears off relatively quickly.

Yes, many clients combine both treatments for a more comprehensive result. During your consultation, we’ll discuss what makes sense for your goals and your anatomy.

For the first 24 hours: avoid lying down for 4 hours after treatment, skip strenuous exercise, don’t massage or rub the area, and hold off on hot tubs or saunas. We’ll give you full aftercare instructions during your appointment.
