Safety, Risks, and Medical Considerations
General Medical Safety, Risks, & Patient Considerations
At Sparkle Lifestyle & MediSpa, your health, safety, and well-being are our absolute priorities. While we utilize the most advanced, minimally invasive technologies available, it is important to remember that cosmetic injectables, laser therapies, and regenerative procedures are clinical medical treatments.
All treatments are performed or overseen by our highly trained medical team, including our Board-Certified OBGYNs and experienced nursing staff. To ensure your safety, every client must undergo a comprehensive consultation and health history review prior to any procedure.
Common Temporary Side Effects (The “Social Downtime”)
Because our treatments stimulate your body’s natural healing responses, mild, temporary side effects are completely normal. Depending on your specific treatment, these usually resolve within 24 to 72 hours:
- Redness & Swelling: Following lasers or injectables, the treated area may look and feel like a mild sunburn, or feel “tight” and temporarily plump.
- Bruising: Small, pinpoint bruises are a common and natural risk with any injection (including Botox, Dermal Fillers, and PRP), especially in delicate areas like the under-eyes or lips.
- Tenderness: Your skin, muscles, or scalp may feel slightly sore, tingling, or sensitive to the touch immediately following a session.
Important Universal Medical Contraindications
While our treatments are highly safe, they are not suitable for everyone. To protect your health, certain treatments may be delayed or contraindicated if you have:
- Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: As a strict medical safety precaution, we do not perform cosmetic injectables, laser therapies, or aesthetic procedures on women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
- Active Infections: We cannot treat areas with active bacterial or fungal infections, active severe acne outbreaks, or active cold sores (HSV). Note: If you are prone to cold sores, please inform us so we can recommend antiviral medication prior to laser or lip treatments.
- Certain Medications: Photosensitizing medications (like Accutane) make laser treatments unsafe. High doses of blood thinners can make injectables unsafe.
- Healing or Autoimmune Disorders: Conditions that severely affect your immune system, blood clotting, or your body’s ability to heal may impact your candidacy for certain procedures.
Pre-Treatment Guidelines for the Best Results
Your results are a partnership between our advanced technology and your pre-care! For the safest experience, we generally recommend:
- Avoid Sun Exposure (For Lasers): You must avoid tanning beds, direct sun exposure, and self-tanners for 2 to 4 weeks prior to any laser treatment to prevent burns and pigmentation changes.
- Pause Blood Thinners (For Injectables): If medically cleared by your primary doctor, avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin), and high doses of Fish Oil or Vitamin E for 3–5 days prior to injections to drastically reduce your risk of bruising.
- Hydrate: Drink plenty of water 24 hours before your appointment. Well-hydrated skin responds better to lasers, and hydration is essential for easy PRP blood draws.
- Honesty is the Best Policy: Always disclose your full medical history, recent sun exposure, and any new medications or supplements to your Sparkle provider before we begin.
